The public is invited to celebrate the unity of earth, spirit and the surrounding community by attending the opening ceremony of the Seeds of Change Exhibit at the University of Northern Colorado April 17th at 7pm.
The opening ceremony will commence with a keynote address given by Associate Professor Keiko Krahnke titled “Earth, Spirit, and the Future of Humanity” at the University Center Columbine Room. A public reception and viewing of the exhibit at the University Center Fireside Lounge will follow.
The Seeds of Change Exhibit is a world traveling exhibit created by the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) and the Earth Charter Initiative, which is a declaration of fundamental principles for building a just, sustainable, and peaceful global society in the 21st century. It prominently features the Earth Charter’s principles in addition to focusing on issues relating to global warming and environmental degradation. The exhibit originally debuted at the World Summit on Sustainable Development, Johannesburg, 2002.
Professor Krahnke reflects on the Seeds of Change exhibit and the relevance of today, saying, “We are living in a critical period of time and may be on the brink of a major shift in human consciousness. Our future is shaped by the thoughts we entertain, the questions we ask, and the dream that we dream.”
