Biography of Dr. Gil Carbajal

Gil Carbajal was an Administrator / Counselor / Professor in Public Education for Thirty-one years with The Poudre School District and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Gil is sixty-five years old and a native of the Fort Collins-Greeley area. Upon graduation from high school, he entered the Army Paratroopers and is a Korean War Veteran. His wife Linda, is a high school counselor. They have four children and twelve grandchildren. Currently, Gil is semi-retired as, a Business and Educational Consultant.
Gil received his B.A. in Education from The University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, and an M.A. Degree as well us his Ph.D. from Colorado State University in the area of Administration and Counseling. He's done graduate work at Colorado University in Boulder and Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. Gil has taught from kindergarten to doctoral couses at the university level. He's been a classroom teacher coach, a counselor, an adminstrator and a college professor. He's been a consultant/lecturer for graduations, schools, oraganizations, clubs, churches, as well as business and industry. His presentations include topics on the American Free Enterprise economic system, success skills, motivation, regular and alternative education, Christian doctrine, human relations, and the Hispanic culture.
Gil's major accomplishments include: The development of several successful businesses; the design and implementation of alternative education, dropout prevention and retrieval programs; as a trainer for curriculum development and the design of a delivery system for those programs. He also has designed various other scholastic, athletic and community programs, and youth clubs. The programs he insolated are state, regional and national model programs. He has several publications in national journals and regional newspapers. The topic of his doctoral dissertation 'is "Perceptions Of Career Education."
Gil is currently, or has been in the past, a member of The Christian Business Men's Association, The Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development Phi Delta Kappa (educational fraternity), Iota Lambda Sigma (vocational education fraternity), The Colorado of School Executives, The National Association of Vocational Educators. The League of Latin American Citizens, The National Association of Special Needs Personnel, The American Personnel and Guidance Association, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion, The Colorado High School Coaches and Officials Association, The International Optimist Club, and membership in several other business, industry and educational associations.
Gil's major awards are: 1968 First Place, The Fort Collins Jaycee Outstanding Educator, 1968 Colorado Jaycee Outstanding Educator (Honorable Mention); 1982 Phi Delta Kappa "Innovator Award"; 1982 City of Fort Collins "Human Relations Award." More recently he has received other awards from clubs, organizations, churches, schools, etc.
Gil's hobbies, interests and activities include church involvement (he was a Board of Education member of Fort Collins Choice City Christian School), family activities, youth clubs, reading, writing listening to music, art collection rejuvenating old cars, skiing and jogging. He has run in three marathons, several half-marathons and numerous other smaller races. He owns his own business and believes wholeheartedly that the foundation or America is Faith, our Fundamental Document (U.S. Constitution), Family, Free Enterprise and Freedom!
