Timely Warnings

Greeley Police are investigating off-campus incidents that occurred Monday, Sept. 17, involving a robbery in the 1300 block of 9th Avenue and suspicious behavior at College Credit Union, 1503 9th Ave. No one was injured in either incident. The suspect in the robbery pointed a dark object at the victim who was walking in the area. The suspect got away on a silver BMX-style bicycle with an undisclosed amount of money. He's described as Hispanic, 17-20 years old, with acne and straggly sideburns. He was wearing a black T-shirt and denim shorts.

The suspect in the attempt on the credit union tried to enter the building with a knife. When he was unable to, he fled. He's described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall with light skin and slender build. He was wearing sunglasses with blue lenses resembling Oakley's and a reddish-brown hoodie.

If you have any information on either case, please contact Greeley Police at 350-9600. The campus community is reminded to be aware of your surroundings and report anything out of the ordinary to UNC Police at 351-2245. Police also recommend:

- If confronted by a suspect, don't argue or try and be a hero. Your life is more important than any amount of money.

- If you are a victim of a crime that has just occurred, call 911 immediately. Provide as much detail, including the suspect's direction of travel and description of suspect and vehicle.

Greeley Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred off campus on Aug. 23 at the College Credit Union, 1503 9th Ave., and Aug. 26 at the Colorado Sate Employees Credit Union, 2505 11th Ave. No one was injured in either robbery.  The Greeley Police have made an arrest in the August 26 robbery at the Colorado State Employees Credit Union.

In the first incident, a man with a weapon took an undisclosed amount of money from the bank and fled on foot.  The second incident involved an 18-year-old being robbed by a man with a handgun after withdrawing cash from an ATM.

The suspect in both robberies is described as a white male in his 20s or early 30s; about 5 foot 10 or 6 foot tall; slender build; short, cropped brown hair with a tattoo on his neck.  He's reported to have an acne-scarred, pock-marked face.  If you have any information in this case, please contact Greeley Police at 350-9600.

The campus community is reminded to be aware of your surroundings and report anything out of the ordinary to UNC Police at 351-2245. 

In addition, the UNC Police recommends the following safety tips for ATM use:

- Use ATMs in familiar areas in well-lighted areas. Whenever possible, use ATMs during daylight hours.

- If confronted by a suspect, don't argue or try and be a hero. Your life is more important than any amount of money.

- If you are a victim of a crime that has just occurred, call 911 immediately. Provide as much detail, including the suspect's direction of travel and description of suspect and vehicle.
