McKee Hall was built during the presidency of Darrell Holmes and was completed in 1968. The building was funded as a result of the shortage of nurses and teachers and named for Paul V. McKee, one of the most prominent scholars in the field of elementary education.

In addition to housing the College of Humanities and Social Sciences’ Philosophy, Political Science, and Social Science programs, McKee Hall houses the College of Education (Teacher Education Programs), Special Education, COSMOS, Psychology, Statistics, Chem Quest, Educational Technology, a large number of classrooms, and a large number of faculty offices.
