There is no free parking on UNC campus; a permit must be properly displayed in each vehicle unless it is parked at a paid meter.
Visitors may purchase time at the meters or purchase a daily permit from the dispenser machines in most student parking lot areas. To avoid being issued a citation, plan to purchase a Daily Dispenser Permit (Price=$3.00) from one of the seven dispensers on campus if you do not have a current permit. Click here to open Parking Map. Seven red stars on the map indicate locations of Daily Dispensers.
Visitors may also purchase a Visitor Parking Permit (scratch-off format, $3.50 each) from the Parking Services' Office (Gray Hall), or from the University Conference and Events Scheduling Office (located on the second level of the University Center).
Contractors and Service Vendors may purchase time in metered areas, or purchase a daily permit available from the dispenser machines in most student lots. Where it is valid is stated on the face of a dispenser permit.
If frequent trips are anticipated, Parking Services should be contacted for purchase of an annual Service Permit.
Visitors to University Apartments are asked to use street parking. However, DD (daily dispenser), FS, N and ST permits are now valid in P-south, the dirt lot south of 18th Street at University Apartments.
Visitors with disabilities with a state handicap placard or state handicap license plate must buy a visitor permit or a daily dispenser to park in the Disabled spaces. The Visitor Permit allows visitors to park in all disabled spaces (with a state disability permit), regular spaces and meters. The Daily Dispenser permit allows them to park in all disabled spaces (with a state disability permit) and regular student spaces.
If you are visiting for a weekend event, please call us directly so that we might inform you of limited or unlimited enforcement on any specific lot.
