Native American Fraternity

Members of this fraternity will strive for excellence in not only brotherhood, but in academia, professional experience, community service, and cultural awareness, through the earnest practice of authentic leadership, unity, determination, and truth.

 This fraternity will serve as

• a supportive, transitional environment to will provide members with opportunities, resources, tools, and experiences necessary for success in collegiate life and in their future careers
• Members will share their own unique experiences, perspectives, and ideas for the development and advancement of individual members, the fraternal order, academia, the professions, and the Native American community
• Through this organization leaders will help these young men to retain and graduate successfully through mentoring, peer advising/relationships, faculty support, and tutoring services

Omega Del Ps Sorority

Founded in 2006

Local Native American sorority at the University of Northern Colorado

American Indian/Alaskan Native and Non-Native women work as a community to retain their identity while pursuing a college career.

First Nations Organization

During the late 1970's Native Americans had a group on campus at UNC, however this group disappeared in the mid 1980's. It was created again in 1993 with the help of MECCHA, Mike Salazaar, and the organizations advisor Sally McBeth. The People of the Great Spirit was the title that was chosen for the organization. The Native American Student Services was created in 1995. The People of the Great Spirit were eventually renamed The First Nations Student Organization. More about First Nations

Native American Graduate Student Association

Abstract: Is a new association that will be active beginning fall 2007 semester. This organization seeks to strive for scholarship, honesty, leadership, service, and personal integrity as future leaders in higher education and among their Native communities. Native American graduate students through their major course work in their writing, theses, and dissertation research endeavors. The students will mentor one another online. There will be a social gathering one day in the fall and spring semesters for each Native graduate student to meet one another in person. They support one another to be balanced in their professional life and in their cultural life.
