Barracuda Suggested Practices

We caution users who choose not to stay with the corporate defaults in their Junk Box setup. The results of doing so may produce unexpected behavior.

The web interface link to access the Quarantine inbox for Faculty, Staff, and Students is:
UNC Barracuda Quarantine Login

Faculty and Staff select 'Fac/Staff' from the drop-down box, and login with their normal Exchange PDID.

Students select the 'STUDENT' option in the drop-down box, and login with their BearMail PDID(omitting '@blue.unco.edu').

Due to the volume of SPAM that is spoofed as coming from certain Domains that are listed below, it is necessary that we require each client to make a decision on whether to allow the mail or not. This means that mail from the Domains should always show up in the blocked emails page until you have clicked to allow or setup the policy manually. This means, you may want to look over your blocked emails page frequently for a valid email from the following domains:

aol.com
hotmail.com
listserv.uga.edu
microsoft.com
msn.com
yahoo.com

Again the reason for this is because of the volume of emails we receive that look like they come from the valid domain, but are actually just more junk in disguise. Also, it is key to remember that when you add the email to the Whitelist - that sender gets added to your "People" Allowed list.  If it turns out you want to block email from that address, you will need to remove them from that list.
