Spam Quarantine Summary

Spam Quarantine Summary:
A revolutionary step in the fight to eliminate the IT burden of spam, the patent-pending Spam Quarantine Summary provides employees with a single email that summarizes all of their quarantined spam, virus, and fraud emails.

This summary email ensures that employees never miss a legitimate message, and never need to contact IT to find the message. A Spam Quarantine Summary email is sent daily to each user as shown in the example below the email from "Barracuda Spam Firewall".

Users can click on any of the links to effect various actions like Deliver, Whitelist or delete an email, visiting their Quarantine Inbox which is accessed though a simple web interface. From here, users can search, sort, and review email determined to be quarantined. Then, with a single click on the Whilelist option, users can have it added to their personal allowed list. and then to have the email delivered to the user inbox just a single click on the delivery option. The Junk Box itself is kept at the network perimeter—off the email server—decreasing risk and load.

Quarantine Items:

  • Personal allowed and blocked lists:
    • Whitelist:  The list of email addresses or domains from which the user always wish to receive messages.  The only time the Barracuda Spam Firewall blocks a message from someone on the user's Whitelist is when the message contains a virus or a disallowed attachment file extension. Click on Preferences Tab to add emails to this list.
    • Blacklist:  The list of senders from whom the user never want to receive messages. The Barracuda Spam Firewall immediately discards messages from senders on the user's blacklist.  These messages are not tagged or quarantined and cannot be recovered. The sender does not receive a notice that the message was deleted, and neither does the user. The only time a blacklisted email address is delivered is if the same email address also appears in the user's  Whitelist. Click on Preferences Tab to add emails to this list.

The web interface link to access the Quarantine inbox for Faculty, Staff, and Students is:
UNC Barracuda Quarantine Login
Faculty and Staff select 'Fac/Staff' from the drop-down box, and login with their normal Exchange PDID.
Students select the 'STUDENT' option in the drop-down box, and login with their BearMail PDID (omitting '@blue.unco.edu').
