Cisco Unified Messaging (UM) combines your voicemail messages and emails together thereby allowing you to gain access to your voice mail messages AND email messages by telephone OR a computer equipped with speakers. Computer users can select and play voice-mail recordings that appear in their email in-boxes. Telephone users can both retrieve voice mail and hear text-to-voice translations of e-mail messages. Messages of either type (voice mail and email) can be saved, filed, sorted and forwarded.
With Cisco Unity ViewMail for Microsoft Outlook, voice messages are displayed in a custom Outlook form in your Outlook Inbox that includes VCR-like controls for playing and recording messages. Subscribers on a Cisco Unity system with Microsoft Exchange can use ViewMail to send new voice messages, and to reply to and forward voice and e-mail messages with a voice recording from their Outlook Inboxes. ViewMail Help describes how to perform these tasks.
