Construction ServicesWest Campus Housing Improvements Due to age, design and deferred maintenance needs, the University has decided to replace McCowen Hall with a new larger Residence Hall. The new facility is projected to house 695-745 students in approximately 275,000-285,000 gross square feet. The room matrix which is currently being considered has 80% of the rooms with 2 bedrooms with 2 beds each, a shared living room and a common bath in each suite. The remaining 20% will be made up of single occupancy rooms with commons baths. The facility will include air conditioning, fire sprinklers, technology and other amenities such as telephone and cable television. M.A. Mortenson Company with Davis Partnership Architects in association with Centerbrook Architects have been preliminarily selected as the General Contractor/Architect team on this project through a formal design build competition.
