Groups and Seminars
Groups:
T
he UNC Counseling Center offers a variety of therapy
groups for students. In a safe and supportive setting, students
have the opportunity to meet with others who have similar concerns.
And, unlike individual therapy, group members will receive multiple
perspectives and feedback, which is tremendously helpful. Many
different types of groups are offered at the Counseling Center including
groups for body image concerns, anxiety reduction, alcohol and other
drugs concerns, GLBT support, relationship skills building, and more. Click here to see a list of current groups. For information on days, times, and costs, please call the Counseling
Center at 970-351-2496. Click here for group brochure spring 2008
Seminars:
Seminars that are offered by the Counseling Center staff provide information for students and help them develop skills for improving their lives. TEST and PERFORMANCE ANXIETY seminars are usually offered each semester to help students whose academic, athletic, musical, or theatrical performance is inhibited by anxiety. Students who freeze up or blank out on exams are unable to recall and demonstrate what they have already learned. This program helps students maximize recall and facilitate performance through a sequential program of relaxation training, positive mental rehearsal, and other specific techniques.
Other seminars can be provided by request from student groups, faculty, and staff.
