F-2 Dependents

The spouse or child of an F-1 student enters the U.S. in F-2 status. Any student wishing to bring a spouse and/or child to the U.S. should visit the Center for International Education to request the necessary documents be prepared. People in F-2 status are never allowed to be employed. F-2 dependents are allowed to attend school in grades K-12. Spouses must NOT enroll in degree programs without changing status to F-1, and children must change status to F-1 to attend post-secondary training.
