If you would like to drive in
Colorado…
- International driver’s licenses:
There is a 30-day grace period during which you may use your international
driver’s license. After 30 days you must obtain a Colorado license.
It does not matter whether you are a full time student or not. Testing
is required.
- Foreign country driver’s licenses: Canadian,
German and French licenses are honored and may be “swapped out” for
Colorado driver’s licenses. However, some testing is still requiredJune 19, 2006y. DMV (Department of
Motor Vehicles) will advise on a case-by-case basis.
- Insurance: You must show proof of insurance for the
car you are using to take your driving test and you must insure the car you drive.
- Costs: The cost of a Colorado license is $15.60. The
cost of a Colorado identification card is $4.10.
- Identification: When requesting any type of official
state document (identification card or driver’s license), you
must bring your passport, immigration paperwork and any current driver’s
license with you to verify your identity.
