Description:

The Blackboard 7.2 Basics workshop is appropriate for faculty or staff who are new to Blackboard or who wish to refresh their skills in using Blackboard tools and functions

Focus is on the use of non interactive content, and will cover the basic functions needed to develop and deliver a fully-online, hybrid, or technology enhanced course in Blackboard.

Delivery Mode:

Participants will meet in a two-hour face-to-face session for a brief overview of Blackboard and an introduction to the tools available.

Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Navigate and customize the Blackboard interface
• Access the Control Panel to add content to and configure the course shell
• Create items:

1. Faculty profile
2. Announcements
3. Syllabus
4. Upload or link to content in a variety of formats (text, graphics)

• Create Folders to aggregate related content and activities
• Create Assignments and Safe Assignments
• Create Discussion Board forums and threads
• Manage the Discussion Board tool
• Customize course design
• Manage course tools
• Communicate with their students

Prerequisites:

Participants should have adequate computer skills (be able to drag and drop files, navigate the interface, use the mouse, etc.) and be comfortable with basic web navigation techniques.
