What are the checkpoint courses?             ..........Requirements

These zero-credit, pass-fail courses replace PTEP applications and student teaching application. You must register for these courses on Ursa. The courses will not cost anything, and will not apply to GPA. However, failure to pass courses on a timely manner will prevent students from registering to other courses and progressing through Teacher Education programs. Each course will run in the first 8 weeks of each semester.

What are course requirements?

  • You must register for the appropriate course in Ursa. There will be no class meetings.
  • Students will need to bring a complete package of documents to McKee 216; 8-5 weekdays. Incomplete or incorrectly filled out packages will not be accepted. PLEASE do not leave your packets on the counter or under the door. (Urban Ed students bring complete package of documents to CUE office)
  • STE office staff will check all documents for accuracy while students wait. Allow 10-15 minutes to submit the documents.
  • Once the documents are submitted and are found to be in good order, the student will receive a passing grade. However, if an error is discovered later, the grade will be changed to Incomplete.
EDFE 110 Initial PTEP Application (0)
Deadlines:

  1. Application Checklist, completed and signed by the student
  2. Fingerprint card, signed by you and a police officer, with a money order for EXACTLY $39.50 payable to Colorado Bureau of Investigations. See fingerprint fair times; the cards are available at the fairs. You may also complete one at your local police department; call them first.You must use fingerprint cards provided by STE (McKee 216), CUE or mailed by CDE. If you already have fingerprints on file with CDE, print out and enclose the verification page. Fill out the card in black ink ahead of time. Read the Criminal Background Policy.
  3. TB test results; must be valid through the end of the following semester (excluding summer). Keep a copy for your records; it may be used for EDFE 120, if still valid. See TB clinics times and locations Any qualified physician can also administer the test.
  4. Oath and Consent Form, signed by student
  5. Major content approval form, signed by Major Program Coordinator

  2. Current TB test results; must be valid through the end of the following semester (excluding summer). Keep a copy for your records; it may be used for EDFE 130, if still valid.
  3. Proof of written proficiency (unofficial transcript)
  4. Proof of registration for PLACE or Praxis II Subject Assessments tests, OR signed Affidavit
  5. Major content approval form, signed by Major Program Coordinator

  2. TB test results; must be valid through the end of the following semester (excluding summer). See TB clinics times and locations Any qualified physician can also administer the test.
  3. PLACE or Praxis II Subject Assessments test results (either copies of test results OR a printout of the CDE's record . Note: CDE may have your test results BEFORE they come to you.
  4. Evidence of completed on-line Request for placement (printout).You will access the on-line application through EDFE 130 Blackboard shell. Research schools/districts first, and consult your advisor. Special Education and CUE students are provided with application in their respective offices and do not complete on-libe application.
  5. Major content approval form, signed by Major Program Coordinator
