Resource Center

UNC Career Resource Center assists students in many aspects of their career development. Come in anytime during our office hours and look through our many resources or use the computers for career exploration, job search or resume writing.

  • Job Search Tools: Numerous resources on resume writing, cover letters, and interviewing techniques. Pick up packets with sample resumes, cover letters and interviewing tips. Free publications are available on various career development topics.
  • Resume Service: The drop-off resume critique service is free for all students and alumni. While there are many different ways to write a resume, Career Services advises a particular format so that we may provide consistent feedback. If you have not followed the guidelines and examples in our resume packet, your resume is being returned with a packet for your revisions prior to a critique being provided. Please allow 48 hours (2 full working days) from the time you drop off your resume for the critique to be completed. Career Services staff will make every effort to complete a critique within this time period. Please be aware that heavy volumes of critiquing requests occur in the week prior to career fairs and sometimes prevent us from being able to meet the 48 hour time period. If you have questions on how to proceed with resume revisions, please schedule an appointment with a Career Counselor by calling 351-2127.
  • Major to Career Guides: Information on each major offered at UNC and its career possibilities is available for further exploration. Included are lists of possible job titles, a general description of career area, some of the job tasks involved, what types of organizations hire people with that major and additional organizations to contact for more information.

For each major that interests you, choose "Information" to find an outline of common career areas, typical employers, and strategies designed to maximize career opportunities. Choose "Links" to find a list of websites that provide information about listed majors and related careers.
