Climbing Wall Positions:
Climbing Wall Supervisor
Maintain safety and control in the climbing wall. Learn the instructional materials and forms used in Climbing Wall orientations and belay clinics, and teach these sessions. Provide high quality customer service. Attend all required trainingsessions and staff meetings, inspect the wall and all equipment as outlined in the climbing staff manual, and correct any unsafe situations immediately. Collaborate on route setting in an effort to provide routes for all ability levels, practice preventive measures in order to provide the safest possible climbing environment for our patrons and ensure that emergency assistance is immediately obtained when needed.
Qualifications: Possess indoor or outdoor climbing experience and/or ropes course experience. Teaching experience is desirable. Additional preferred requirements: recommendations of the KPE Outdoor Program faculty, N.O.L.S. faculty or Outward Bound faculty, and a current, completed UNC Climbing Wall belay card. As a climbing wall supervisor you must possess certification in CPR and First Aid, or Sport Safety Training, throughout term of employment.
Student Program Assistant (SPA): Climbing Wall
Assist with staff training, scheduling and payroll. Learn instructional materials and forms used in the Climbing Wall. Inspect equipment and check supplies routinely. Represent climbing wall supervisor interests to Assistant Director and at monthly SPA meetings. Program activities for the climbing wall. Schedule staff for special events in climbing wall. Complete additional duties and paperwork as needed.
Qualifications: Be a current Climbing Wall Supervisor with UNC Campus Recreation and maintain at least one regular shift. It is preferable for the SPA - Climbing Wall to have at least one-year experience with UNC Campus Recreation. As the climbing wall assistant you must possess certification in CPR and First Aid, or Sport Safety Training, throughout term of employment.\
