Club Information:
The UNC Ice Hockey Club competes at the Division III level of the American Collegiate Hockey Association. The club began playing at the downtown Greeley Ice Haus in 2005, after years of playing in Fort Collins. Tryouts for the team typically occur in September, and their regular season runs from late September through the end of February. In 2005, the Bears finished the season ranked 13th in the ACHA Division III final standings. The Ice Hockey Club hosted and won the Inaugural Greeley Cup Tournament in November, 2006.
The team was well received as they averaged approximately 650 fans per game, including 1000 fans for the season finale. The team finished the regular season undefeated, and earned a bid to the ACHA Division III National Tournament as the #1 seed in the West Division. The club went 3-1 at the national tournament and finished 5th in the nation for Division III in the 2006/2007 season.
