Institutional Surveys

The Office of Assessment periodically conducts surveys of faculty, staff, and students to support institutional assessment, planning, and decision making.  Recent surveys include the Campus Climate for Diversity study, the 2007 CIRP Freshman Survey, and the UCLA Faculty Survey.  Check this site regularly as new survey results are added when they become available.  Information about current survey results is available below.

Campus Climate for Diversity Study

During Spring 2007, the university conducted a campus-wide survey of students, faculty and staff regarding perceptions, experiences, and attitudes related to diversity.  Results were compiled separately for each group and may be obtained by selecting from the following reports:

CIRP 2007 Freshman Survey

UNC participated in the Cooperative Institutional Research Program’s 2007 Freshman Survey during summer 2007.  1,946 students from the entering freshman class completed the survey during orientation.  Developed by researchers at UCLA’s Higher Education Research Institute (HERI), the survey provides a profile of the 2007 freshman class.

UCLA Faculty Survey

Since 1989, UCLA’s HERI has conducted a triennial survey of the nation’s college and university faculty.  The most recent survey occurred in 2007.  23,887 faculty from 212 institutions participated in the 2007 survey, including 194 UNC faculty.  The survey provides information about faculty experiences, opinions, teaching practices, and job satisfaction.  The initial results provide an overall description of how UNC faculty’s responses compared to the national sample.  An institutional peer comparison report has been ordered from UCLA and results will be posted when they become available.
