Our Mission
The Asian/Pacific American Student Services (APASS)
serves to advance the University of Northern Colorado’s mission
and vision through the recruitment and retention of Asian and Pacific
American students and students from the state of Hawaii, to encourage
all students to achieve their scholastic and professional goals
through academic, cultural and social development, and to provide
an avenue for continued Asian education within the University.
Our History at A/PASS
The Asian/Pacific American Student Services began
in 1995 by Karie Yoshioka as an office in the Michener Office. In
1996, the Kohl House became the new and present home of APASS. Since
then, four student organizations have begun—The Asian American
Cultural Club, Ha’aheo ‘O Hawai’i, The Korean-American
Students Association and State-808 Volleyball Club, allowing for
students to engage in extra-curricular activities and community
service.
The center houses both A/PASS and the Native
American Student Services (NASS) and is the brick house located
at 924 20th St. You may also reach the center by calling 970-351-1909.
We have created a resource library and are continually increasing
the holdings in the library. We also have a mini-computer lab downstairs
with five new PC computers. All are hooked up to the university
backbone, allowing access to the internet and e-mail. There is a
networked printer to all the computers as well. The center has two
kitchens available for all students to use and we invite all students
to come visit the center!
