Admission for Transfer Students

Whether you're transferring from a local community college or a 4-year university, UNC will quickly make you feel at home.

"Transfer Stop" one stop shopping service.

1. On-the-spot admissions assessments for entrance to the University of Northern Colorado. Please bring transcripts for accurate assessments. Unofficial transcripts are just fine.
   
2. Liberal Arts Core evaluation and assessment of total transferable credits.
   
3. Learn about major-specific requirements and program advising contacts.
   
4. Understand the costs of attendance and learn about the financial aid process.
   
5. Get familiar with priority dates and processes for the upcoming semester related to admissions, financial aid, advising and housing.
   
6. Free UNC parking permit for the day of your visit.
   
7. E-mail consultations available.

If it is more convenient for you to set up an appointment, please call the UNC Visitors Center at (970) 351-2097 1 week in advance to allow for ample arrangements.

You'll get personal attention from academic advisors, the maximum transfer credits for your previous work , the most financial aid possible and a dozen different residence halls to choose from if you'd like to live on campus.

Transferring to UNC means you won't miss a beat. You'll be continuing your studies instead of starting over.

How do you start preparing for Northern Colorado?

1. Check out UNC's tuition assistance for non-residents like the National Undergraduate Scholarship.
2. Apply for admission when you have completed at least 13 transferable semester credit hours (20 quarter hours).
   
3. Check your application status
4. Check with the UNC Admissions Office to make sure courses transfer properly.
   
5. Tour the campus and meet with faculty, staff and students.
   
6. Complete the forms for federal and state financial aid (FAFSA) and scholarships (UNC Universal Scholarship Application).
   
7. Submit your proof of immunization to the UNC Health Center.
   
8. Schedule an appointment with your advisor or, if you have not declared a major, call the Academic Support and Advising Office at (970) 351-1391.
   
9. Specific advising/registration sessions are scheduled by the Academic Support and Advising Office for both fall and spring semesters.

Undergraduate applicants needing to update their residency information can print, complete and fax a PDF Residency Update Form to the Office of Admissions at (970) 351-2984.
