Transfer FAQ’s:
You are a transfer student if . . . .
To be eligible for transfer admission into UNC, the student must be in good standing at the college or university most recently attended. Admission to UNC is based on a combination of the total number of transferable semester hours, and cumulative GPA from all work attempted. These totals affect the admission decision in the following way.
- 1-12 hours transferable: Students in this category need to complete the application for admission, pay the nonrefundable application fee, have all official college transcripts sent (even if less than 13 post high school college credtis are accumulated), and provide high school transcript with ACT/SAT scores. The admissions decision is then based on high school grades and standardized test scores.
- 13 or more transferable hours: admission decision based on a college cumulative GPA of 2.4 or higher from all colleges attended. Transfer application process: Along with the application for admission and the nonrefundable application fee, applicants must submit an official transcript from each college or university previously attended.
What documents do I provide the Office of Admissions to get admitted as a transfer student?
- Application for Admission
- Official transcripts from all universities attended
- High school trancripts and ACT scores if transferring less than 13 credits
How long does it take to get admitted to UNC?
Entrance to UNC admission decisions are made approximately within 2-3 weeks after all documents needed to complete the application packet are received. Depending on the major you are seeking, you may need to complete a departmental process for program admission.
How will I be notified of my admissions status?
After we have received your application for admission, application fee, and official transcripts, we will make an admissions decision. If you are admitted to UNC, we will evaluate your credits for transfer into UNC. If we are unable to admit you or need additional information, we will notify you by mail. If you are admissable, you should receive admittance and transfer credit mailings within 2-3 weeks.
Where do I have my official transcripts sent?
Official transcripts should be sent to the UNC Office of Admissions, Carter Hall 3006, Campus Box 10, Greeley, CO 80639
Do I need to have transcripts submitted from all previously attended colleges/universities?
Yes. We need official transcripts from all previously attended institutions.
What is UNC’s application deadline?
We do rolling admissions, which means we work to admit and evaluate credit as we receive and match up admissions applications with official transcripts. Generally we will stop taking transfer applications about one month before each semester starts.
What is the admissions process if I already have a Bachelors degree and am seeking a second Bachelors?
The process should be the same. If you received your Bachelors degree from another institution, you will need to apply, submit the application fee, and provide us official transcripts from all colleges attended. If you graduated from UNC, you will need to contact the Registrar and Records office to update your information. Depending on the major you are seeking, you may need to complete a departmental application.
Do I need to reapply if I previously attended UNC?
If you left in good academic standing, you do not need to reapply, but should contact the Registrar and Records office to update your information. Their phone number is 970-351-2231.
