FYE Learning Community Examples

In your first semester, it is suggested to take 14-16 credits of coursework. Your Learning Community will enroll you in 7-12 credits of coursework, so when you get to New Student Orientation you will add 1-3 classes outside of your Learning Community. Here are a few examples of what Learning Communities might look like:

Here’s what a Business Learning Community looks like:

ENG122 College Composition   3 credits
FYE 108 First Year Seminar   1 credit
BA 150 Foundations of Business Thought   3 credits
    Total 7 credits

                                                           OR

A Learning Community for Undeclared students:

ENG 122 College Composition   3 credits
FYE 108 First Year Seminar   1 credit
SOC 100 Principles of Sociology   3 credits
MCS 101 Multiculturalism in the U.S.   2 credits
    Total 10 credits

You would then add 1-3 courses at Orientation to get you to 14-16 credits, and you would have a full schedule! This allows you to personalize your schedule, while also gaining the benefits of being in a Learning Community.
