Certification to Teach

In Fall 2007, Provost Harraf identified a number of areas for improvement in teaching and learning at UNC. One of the items was a certification of all instructors whom would be teaching first year students. UNC’s FYE 108 and the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) have teamed up to lead this certification, and beginning Fall 2008 at least 50% of the instructors teaching UNC's FYE 108 will have been certified, and by Fall 2009 100% of instructors teaching UNC's FYE 108 will be certified. For details, please review "What is the First Year Teaching Certification?" document.

Certification is good for 3 years, at which time recertification is required.
